Healthy Earth

Healthy potatoes come from healthy soil. It is crucial that we take good care of our planet. We work every day to produce safely and in an ever more sustainable manner. Together with the chain, we are building an entirely circular process from potato to product, whereby we minimise water and energy consumption and prevent (food) waste.

‘We have to do it together. And that is a great match with the cooperative spirit of
our parent company, Cosun.’

Maximum value, minimum waste

Aviko is continuously searching for possibilities for what are known as waste flows. Residual product remains as part of the production of fries and other products. We use this residual product for other purposes. Our aim is to ‘extract maximum value’ from the potatoes and to half our food waste in 2030.

‘Misfits’
Products that are entirely in order in terms of quality but for some other reason did not reach the market now do have that opportunity. We started a process with a retailer to return such products to the market as food and thus prevent food waste.

Specials
We combat waste by taking a critical look at our processes and activities: we do not throw away good products whose packaging has been rejected, but we repackage them in new packaging. We also market successful trial productions as specials.
